Connect Groups Study Notes "Finding God Through Service" March 24, 2019
Warm up Can you remember a time when someone served you in a way that made a lasting impact?
Read Mark 10:35-45
Message Recap As we serve others we find God through identifying with Christ, seeing him at work in those we serve, and seeing him at work in and through us.
What should we do? 1. Seek God for how we should serve. 2. Serve! 3. Look for God at work in and through you and others as you serve – let this lead you to worship as you find Him in serving.
Questions for discussion
- Have you been in a situation where you were serving someone and it was difficult or painful, but God gave you pure joy in the midst of it?
- Is there a time when you’ve seen God working in someone’s life you were serving? How did you find God in this experience?
- Have there been times in your life where you’ve experienced God’s power in your life to serve? This could be a brief experience, or over a long period of time.
Application
- Where should I be serving right now? Who should I be serving right now? Am I serving in the right places?
- Think about the ways in which your service reflects, in small ways, the service of Christ and thank him for his extravagant example of a life lived to serve.
- Is there one area of service in your life that has become drudgery? Instead of allowing this to fester and turn into bitterness, ask God to sustain you, and fill you with pure joy in the midst of difficult service.
